Professional career
He joined the military in 1980 and transferred to civilian service in 1999 from a regimental chief-of-staff post. He subsequently worked at the Hebei Agricultural Environmental Protection Monitoring Station, the provincial edible-mushroom service center, Fuping County Government as a temporary deputy county head, and the provincial agricultural specialty-industry technical guidance station, with a long career in technical extension and industry management for edible mushrooms.
Selected achievements
- Led development of automated, high-efficiency engineering technology for edible-mushroom fruiting-block production
- Developed 17 provincial edible-mushroom standards and conducted a systematic survey of more than 940 wild mushroom species in Hebei
- Helped expand edible-mushroom cultivation in Hebei from about 30,000 mu to 350,000 mu, with reported annual output of 3.1 million tonnes and value of RMB 22.8 billion
- Received four patents, multiple provincial science and technology progress awards, and a National Agriculture, Animal Husbandry and Fishery Harvest Award
- Served as a torchbearer for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and as a temporary deputy county head in Fuping, earning the nickname “Mushroom County Head”
